Girls Weightlifting Captures District Championship
ST. JOHNS, Fla. – The Flagler Palm Coast girls weightlifting team delivered a championship-level performance on Saturday, January 24, capturing the District 3-3A Championship at Creekside High School in St. Johns. The Bulldogs claimed the district title with a 52-point team score in Traditional lifting and a 57-point team score in Olympic lifting, showcasing depth and consistency across all weight classes.
Traditional Highlights
Flagler Palm Coast opened the meet strong in the lighter divisions. In the 101-pound class, Kristy Owens posted a 185-pound combined lift, finishing fourth while contributing key team points. In the 110-pound class, Angelis Rosa totaled 220 pounds, continuing FPC’s early momentum.
The Bulldogs earned a district champion in the 119-pound class, where Nya Williams dominated with a 335-pound combined lift to finish first overall. In the 129-pound class, Gabrielle Garcia added valuable points with a 235-pound combined lift, finishing fifth.
FPC continued its strong showing in the upper weights, highlighted by Lily Ames, who placed second in the 139-pound class with a 235-pound combined lift, and Cali Weehunt, who followed with a second-place finish in the 154-pound class totaling 275 pounds. In the 165-pound class, Brianna Long recorded a 290-pound combined lift, finishing second overall.
The Bulldogs closed Traditional competition with championship performances in the heavier divisions. Lynnsie Jones captured the district title in the 183-pound class with a 295-pound combined lift, while Arianna Almeida earned a second-place finish in the 199-pound class, totaling 275 pounds.
Olympic Highlights
Flagler Palm Coast carried its success into Olympic lifting, beginning with Alexcia Lilavois, who finished fourth in the 101-pound class with a 180-pound total. In the 110-pound class, Angelis Rosa placed third overall, totaling 205 pounds.
Once again, Nya Williams led the Bulldogs in the 119-pound class, claiming first place with a meet-best 355-pound total. In the 139-pound class, Lily Ames earned a second-place finish with a 270-pound total, while the 154-pound class saw two Bulldogs on the podium as Cali Weehunt placed second with 265 pounds and Navaeh Serrano Martinez finished third with a 220-pound total.
FPC continued to score heavily in the upper weights, as Kelsey Coyne placed second in the 169-pound class with a 260-pound total, followed closely by Brianna Long, who finished third with 255 pounds. In the 183-pound class, Lynnsie Jones added another podium finish, placing second with a 245-pound total, while Arianna Almeida rounded out the Olympic results with a third-place finish in the 199-pound class, totaling 255 pounds.
With podium finishes across nearly every weight class in both disciplines, Flagler Palm Coast’s balanced and disciplined performance proved decisive as the Bulldogs secured the District 3-3A Championship. FPC now turns its focus toward the Region I-3A Championship where the Bulldogs will host the event on Saturday January 31st in the FPC 100 gymnasium.
