Girls Volleyball Takes Down Rival Matanzas 3–1 Behind Balanced Team Effort

October 8, 2025 | Palm Coast, FL — The Flagler Palm Coast volleyball team earned a statement win over crosstown rival Matanzas, taking the match 3–1 (21–25, 25–12, 25–18, 25–19) in front of a loud home crowd Wednesday night.

After dropping a tightly contested opening set, the Lady Bulldogs locked in defensively and found their rhythm offensively, outpacing the Pirates in the final three frames with sharp serving and strong ball control.

FPC  hit an impressive .240 on the night while holding Matanzas to just .079, forcing 59 errors and capitalizing on long rallies. The Bulldogs’ serve receive proved steady with a 1.61 rating, and their aggressive serving produced 14 aces and an 88.4% team serve rate.

Senior Haley Sobin led the attack with a .357 hitting percentage, tallying 12 digs and 4 aces in an all-around performance. Marina Carlisi added 12 digs of her own and was nearly automatic from the line, serving at a 96% clip with six aces. Peyton Smith provided a spark at the net with several key kills and a block, while Faith Dailey and Brie Sproul anchored the back row with consistent defense.

Matanzas was led by Travis Boone, who collected 12 digs and 7 kills, but FPC’s depth and composure ultimately proved too much down the stretch.

Head Coach Lindsey Stewart praised her team’s ability to bounce back after the early set loss:

“Once we settled into our game plan and trusted our communication, everything started clicking. Our serve pressure and defensive effort really carried us through sets two through four.”

The Lady Bulldogs now look to carry that momentum into the final stretch of the season as district play heats up.
