Flag Football Opens Season With Overtime Upset at Spruce Creek
February 17th, 2026 | PORT ORANGE, FL – Flagler Palm Coast Flag Football opened its season in impressive fashion on Tuesday, traveling on the road and knocking off defending regional champion Spruce Creek in a hard-fought 6–0 overtime victory.
Defense set the tone from the opening whistle, as the Bulldogs delivered a standout performance against one of the area’s top programs. Freshman defensive back Stephanie Turner made an immediate impact in her varsity debut, recording two interceptions and delivering a crucial pass breakup on the game’s final play to seal the shutout win.
Fellow freshman Malaysia McKay also contributed to the defensive effort with an interception, helping the Bulldogs keep Spruce Creek off the scoreboard throughout regulation and overtime.
With the game still scoreless in overtime, junior Tori Spann provided the decisive moment. Spann broke free on a reverse and raced into the end zone for the game’s only touchdown, giving the Bulldogs the season-opening upset and a statement road victory.
Flagler Palm Coast will look to build on the momentum this week as the Bulldogs return to action Thursday against Seabreeze High School. The game is scheduled for 6/7 p.m. at the Ormond Sports Complex.
