Biography & Coaching Background

Coach Dave Halliday is one of the most decorated track and field and cross country coaches in the state of Florida. Raised in Volusia County, he graduated from Seabreeze High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida before pursuing a master’s degree in sports management. Early in his career, he was mentored by U.S. Track & Field Hall of Famer Jimmy Carnes, which inspired him to enter high school coaching.

Coach Halliday joined Flagler Palm Coast High School in 2004 and has served as the heart and soul of the Bulldogs’ track and cross country programs for over two decades. Prior to FPC, he coached at Atlantic High School and Columbia High School, where he won his first team state championship. Under his leadership at FPC, the Bulldogs have earned multiple conference, district and regional titles. Coach Halliday led the FPC Bulldogs to State Championships in Cross Country in 2005 and Track & Field in 2007 and 2009. He also led the Bulldogs to State Runner-Up finishes in Cross Country in 2006 and Track & Field in 2019.

Achievements & Honors

• Hall of Fame Inductions: Inducted into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Hall of Fame as its youngest-ever coaching inductee in 2014, and inducted into the Florida Track & Field Hall of Fame in 2017.

• National Recognitions: Multi-time finalist for National High School Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2024 as well as a National Finalist for the Brooks Inspiring Coach Award in 2014.

• Leadership Roles: Served for seven years as the Track & Field Chairman for the Florida Athletic Coaches Association.

• Championship Legacy: Guided multiple individual state champions, relay champions, and high school All-Americans while coaching every event across track & field.
