Bulldogs Sweep DeLand Series with Road Win and Walk-Off Thriller
February 19th, 2026 | PALM COAST, FL –
It was a big week for Flagler Palm Coast Baseball, as the Bulldogs earned a two-game sweep over conference rival DeLand High School — first with a strong road victory Tuesday, then with a dramatic walk-off win at home Thursday.
Tuesday: Bass Jr. Dominates in Road Victory
Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs traveled to DeLand and secured an 8–5 win behind a dominant outing from Reginald Bass Jr.
Bass Jr. struck out 10 batters over four innings, allowing just two hits and three runs while helping set the tone early. Flagler Palm Coast jumped in front in the first inning when Carson Flis doubled down the left field line and Paul Bowen followed with an RBI groundout to make it 2–0.
The Bulldogs extended the lead to 4–0 in the third inning, highlighted by Bowen’s RBI single. Offensively, Flagler Palm Coast totaled nine hits, with Bowen, Flis, and Tyler Bohnenkamper each collecting two. Bowen and Flis powered the middle of the order with three RBIs apiece, while Marion Clayton added pressure on the bases with two stolen bases.
Cristian Baez started for DeLand and struck out eight, but the Bulldogs’ early offense proved decisive. Nole Hemmerle later contributed a scoreless inning in relief to help secure the victory.
Thursday: Walk-Off Comeback Caps the Sweep
Two days later at Flagler Palm Coast High School, the Bulldogs delivered late-game magic to complete the sweep, rallying for a 6–5 walk-off win.
Trailing by two runs entering the bottom of the seventh, Flagler Palm Coast mounted one final push. Carson Flis ignited the comeback with a clutch double that scored two runs to tie the game. Moments later, Nicholas Pandich lined a single to bring home the winning run and send the Bulldog faithful into celebration.
Marion Clayton paced the offense with three hits, including a run-scoring double in the first inning that put the Bulldogs on the board. Clayton and Pandich each finished with three hits, while Flis and Clayton drove in two runs apiece. Tyler Bohnenkamper added two hits as the Bulldogs again produced 10 hits in the contest.
Jordan Gonzalez delivered a solid six-inning start, allowing three runs while striking out four. Hemmerle earned the win in relief, limiting DeLand’s damage in the final inning to give the Bulldogs a chance at their comeback.
DeLand also tallied 10 hits, led by Ethan Zagers’ three-hit, three-RBI performance, but Flagler Palm Coast’s resilience in the final frame proved decisive.
Up Next
With momentum from the two wins over DeLand, the Bulldogs now turn their attention to their next matchup Tuesday on the road against the Sandcrabs of Seabreeze High School.
