Boys Cross Country Places 5th at Spikes & Spurs Classic
BUNNELL, FL (FPCSports.com) — August 22, 2025
The Flagler Palm Coast boys cross country team delivered a strong early-season performance at the 14th Annual Spikes & Spurs Classic, finishing 5th overall in a deep field that featured more than 20 schools and over 300 runners.
The Bulldogs were led by freshman standout Douglas Seth, who clocked a 17:09.8 to secure 2nd place overall. Seth ran stride-for-stride with race winner Eli Scharf of Creekside before ultimately crossing just eight seconds behind, setting the tone for FPC’s scoring pack.
Behind Seth, the Bulldogs packed well and kept their scoring five within striking distance. Sophomore Owen Stackpole and freshman Brayden Murray each turned in top-30 finishes, helping the team maintain position against state-caliber competition. FPC’s depth was also on display, with their No. 5 runner crossing close behind the scoring pack to seal the team’s 160-point finish, just 24 points shy of 4th place Seminole (136).
As a team, FPC finished ahead of area rivals Spruce Creek (6th, 179) and New Smyrna Beach (7th, 210), marking an early-season statement in the Volusia-Flagler-St. Johns region.
The Bulldogs will now turn their attention to next weekend’s Florida Horse Park Invitational in Ocala.
