Bulldogs Shine at Spikes & Spurs Invitational


BUNNELL, Fla. (FPCSports.com) — Flagler Palm Coast cross country opened the season with an impressive showing at the Spikes & Spurs Invitational on Saturday, August 22, at the Flagler County Fairgrounds. Under sunny skies and temperatures reaching 83 degrees, the Bulldog boys captured the team championship while the girls earned a third-place finish.

Sophomore Douglas Seth led a dominant performance by the FPC boys, winning the 5K in 15:59.5. The Bulldogs placed five runners inside the top eight, finishing with just 23 team points.

Dylan Ciardi placed third in 16:47.1, followed closely by Mateo Almeida in fourth at 16:50.4. Enzo McGovern finished seventh in 17:03.1, and Owen Stackpole completed the Bulldogs’ scoring lineup with an eighth-place finish in 17:19.2.

The FPC girls were led by senior Anna Grigoruk, who placed third overall with a time of 20:02.5. Freshman Avery Wisniewski followed in fifth at 20:47.0, giving the Bulldogs two runners among the top five.

Everly Mucciolo finished 12th in 21:40.8, while Audrey Bowman crossed the line one spot later in 13th at 21:52.1. Freshman Hailey Brennan rounded out the scoring five with a time of 23:47.3, helping FPC finish third with 65 points.

The strong season-opening performance gave the Bulldogs plenty of momentum, highlighted by a boys team victory, two individual top-three finishes and seven runners placing among the top 13 of their respective races.
