Girls Wrestling Shines at the Flagler Rotary Invitational

November 26, 2025 | Palm Coast, FL — The Flagler Palm Coast girls wrestling program delivered a powerful team performance this weekend, earning a 5th-place finish out of 42 teams at the 2nd Annual Flagler Rotary Girls Wrestling Invitational, one of the state’s most competitive early-season tournaments. The event featured elite programs from across Florida, with Freedom High School claiming the team championship with 197.5 points, setting a high standard in a deep and talented field. Despite the strong competition, the Bulldogs showcased their growth, resilience, and top-tier talent with multiple podium finishes, including three individual champions and the tournament’s most prestigious individual honor.

FPC’s standout of the day was 110-pound champion Josly Johnson, who put together a dominant run through her bracket. Johnson closed out the finals in emphatic fashion, securing a 1:29 fall over Freedom’s Hananeel Gregoire, and her outstanding performance throughout the tournament earned her the coveted Outstanding Wrestler Award, distinguishing her as one of the premier competitors in the entire event.  At 120 pounds, Juliana Mills battled through a tough bracket and earned a well-deserved 3rd-place finish.

The Bulldogs added two more champions in the upper weights, demonstrating their depth and strength across the lineup. Alisha Vilar continued her strong start to the season with a commanding performance at 155 pounds, capturing the championship with a 1:10 first-period pin over St. Augustine’s Taylor Pelchat.  At 170 pounds, Alisha Calidonio delivered a composed and gritty championship match, earning a 4–2 decision over Viera’s Savanah Nazario-Darnell to secure FPC’s third individual title of the tournament.

FPC now turns its attention to its next challenge at the Let Freedom Ring Tournament on Saturday, December 6th, where the team aims to build on this momentum and continue its early-season success.
